Early Intervention

In the first three years of life, children gain communication skills that guide later development. Although all children develop at different rates, there are times a child may need intervention. At Playworks Speech, we use a play-based approach to help children acquire new skills.

PROMPT©

We are PROMPT© trained and ready to help children with motor-planning problems. Motor planning is the act of figuring out how to move the muscles to complete a movement gesture (e.g., knowing how much to contract the muscle and where to move it). PROMPT stands for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets.

Virtual Language Therapy

Language therapy helps children become more efficient at communicating their wants and needs in a variety of contexts. At Playworks, we use a child-led approach. This means the clinician aims to move the child up on the developmental “ladder” while engaging with the child using his/her favorite topics. Developmental approaches can be effective with both virtual and in-person therapy sessions.

Articulation Therapy

Articulation Therapy is a way to teach children how to make speech sounds.

Playworks Speech & Occupational Therapy provides informal evaluations, standardized assessments, and ongoing therapy in a clinical setting. We have experience with a wide variety of speech, language, motor and sensory disorders. We see children with a variety of disorders, including: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Apraxia, Dyspraxia, Motor Speech Disorders, Sensory Integration Disorders, and Sensory Processing Disorders.

Our Speech Therapists help children have fun while communicating. We specialize in treating children with a variety of disorders, including: Articulation Disorders, Language Disorders, Fluency Disorders, and difficulties with Executive Functioning. We have expertise in Myofunctional Therapy (Tongue Thrust), and Augmentative/Alternative Communication. Floortime and play-based methods guide our treatment decisions for all types of therapy.
